How exactly can I improve my chances of getting a job teaching english overseas, primarly Japan or Thailand.?We Answered:
A native language speaker like you has a great opportunity teaching in Asian countries like Japan. However, you need to study their language before you can do that. Get a crash course on Japanese Language and Culture here in the US before going there. In that case, you will be well-equipped and ready to teach whenever you want in Japan. You can do a lot of things like tutoring basic English Language in between your spare time when you know how to speak their own language. I do it myself too when I was there. I studied Japanese Language and Culture and at the same time working and tutoring. It was fun and made lots of money. Go to gainjinpot.com or go directly to NOVA once you get there. Best of luck.Sue Said:
Anyone know for sure if the TOEFL English Teaching Certificate is valid to teach English in Thailand? We Answered:
Virtually anyone who has a university degree and TEFL Certificate can teach in Thailand although it is also true that a lack of qualifications has never stopped anyone to get a teaching job there.Ideally you should be in the country to find work so get the for the start of the school year and start investigating local schools to see who needs a teacher.

Teaching English in Vietnam or Thailand? We Answered:
Qualified English teachers with your credentials are highly sought after and in great demand here. There are dozens of international schools and English language schools that are always in need of qualified native English speaking teachers. You would have no problem having one of these schools sponsor a work permit for you, should they hire you. I'm sure if you google or yahoo "Thailand international schools," you will find many of the schools listed. Just contact the schools that may interest you and see what kind of feed back you get. You might want to come over and and visit these schools in person, and also get an idea of what Thailand is like and see if you would like to live here. Good luck.

Qualifications for Teaching English in Thailand? We Answered:
If you have a tefl or toesl or toefl certification it would be easier. A BA is not required in Thailand. A working visa is required in thailand though and you have to have the school vouch for you. And most visitors visas are only good for 30 days. Unless your apply for a 60 day visa. Find a school that will accept you for employment other wise you may end up a immigration fugitive. :-))Below is a website listing english language schools in thailand. It's not a complete list, it is a beginning.

Is it possible to organise a teaching english job in thailand before receiving you degree certificate? We Answered:
A lot of schools in rural areas are dieing to get English teachers. You need a degree in Education or a degree in any other area and a TEFL. You could be offered a job but until you get the degree you will not get a work permit and start working. See http://www.ajarn.com for more information.
