Teach Guided Reading
Courtney Said:
Any idea where I can go for help in creating a curriculum guide for teaching, reading, writing, and spelling? We Answered:
Contact your local school board's ESE department. They will have a special curriculum that they use. Our district's is called the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. curriculum.....for mod-severe cog. impair. populations....not broken down into reading/writing/spelling, but rather communication, daily living, etc.The EMH teachers have a different curriculum that would me more in line with the areas you are looking for.

Phonics Plus Five/Ordinary Parent's Guide to Reading? We Answered:
Connections Academy offers Hooked on Phonics. They are a free virtual public school. Are you considering homeschooling? This site tells you how to get started. It's for high school but it has links for general homeschooling too. http://canihomeschool.blogspot.com/http://www.sonlight.com has some good programs for learning reading too!
Best of Luck!

Phonics Plus Five?/Ordinary Parent's Guide Reading?We Answered:
Hi. Phonics Plus Five works. My daughter is autistic, and it worked for her. Our therapist used it for her own son (who is perfectly normal and mainstream) and was stunned when her 2 1/2 year old began to read - with comprehension. She also used it for my friend's son (age 5) who she used to see for speech delay, but is in kindergarten at a prestigious Manhattan private school and now reading ahead of his peers. Probably no reviews, because Dr. Blank is willing to step outside the box of conventional teaching.-ArleneDerek Said:
Certified Elementary Teachers Please Take a Look and Possibly Give Advice? We Answered:
My school's general education Language Arts curriculum is Balanced Literacy... guided reading, writer workshop, etc.I am the special education Resource Room teacher, so I actually do a completely different program involving research-based approaches for SLD/SLI and other learning differences.
However, I am very familiar, of course, with how the regular ed programming works.
