Esl Teaching Certification
Naomi Said:
I have an M.Ed. and ESL certification. How do I get a decent paying English teaching job in England or Europe? We Answered:
Well most language schools prefer to hire Europeans for teaching job due to the fact you don't have visa problems etc. Most ESL teacher are either English or Irish teacher in Europe. They are EU citizens etc, and don't have to have a work permit to work in other EU countries. Your best best is to try all the private languages schools in Europe etc.Jane Said:
What is the best way to obtain a fast ESL teaching certification (i.e. short intensive programs).?We Answered:
Hi!I did a four week full time TESOL course half in Manchester and half in Spain. You can also do the course part time - a day a week or in the evenings. I would recommend trying to find the four weeks as the course is intensive. I would also recommend sticking to the well recognised Trinity College or Cambridge certificates. There are loads of courses you can do all over the country.

Rita Said:
What kind of certification is usually helpful in getting jobs teaching esl?We Answered:
In Europe, most employers are looking for a "CELTA" (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults), a "Trinity Cert TESOL" (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) or equivalent. These are 120 hour, classroom-based courses and include several hours of observed teaching practice. To keep your employment options as open as possible, one of these courses, or an equivalent in terms of length and content, are the best to go for. There are many other good quality courses available, with many acronyms (!) but generally speaking, the shorter and less classroom-based your course, the more limited your options will be when it comes to finding a job.
If you're looking for somewhere to take one of these courses, I would try one of these sites:

How can I get certification to teach ESL in New Jersey??We Answered:
Try the Wall street Institute or any place that does the TEFL course (Teaching English as a Foreign Language)Seth Said:
How can I find a reputable ESL (teaching english as a second language) certification program? We Answered:
If all you want is a certificate, do the CELTA. The name CELTA is widely recognized in Europe, and the certificate that you get upon completion clearly states TESOL so you can use it in Asian markets as well. It's a basic four-week, full-time program with six hours of supervised teaching practice. Use the link below to find a center near you.By the way, the only way to get a decent job in TEFL is to also have a Bachelor's degree. A degree is needed to get a work visa in almost every country.
