Patsy Said:

What a second interview for elementary teaching position will be like???

We Answered:

I have never had a second interview. Perhaps she wants to clarify some of what she asked last time. I would just be yourself and if you don't know an answer - don't make something up. Be honest and genuine - that is always best.

Veronica Said:

What is the best method for teaching elementary to high school students?

We Answered:

You received two decent answers so far, but I would hope I never have to teach "elementary" to high school students. They should be well past this stage. Once students have reached the "high school" level, I have no choice but to teach them what the state requires, and that normally means teaching to the middle range students. I can't make time to teach at the slower student level for fear of losing the rest of the students to boredom. I can't teach directly at the highest student level either because I will lose many students and that is not conducive to NCLB, a program I am not fond of. Students should pass, not be moved on for society to deal with as low wage laborers, welfare cases, or criminal activity.

Good luck!... ?

Methods for Teaching Mathematics to Elementary-aged Children: Every Day Math?

We Answered:

You are correct. The use of calculators should be put off until the student is in Intermediate Algebra. Personally, I didn't use a calculator until college.

The best way to teach basic math is through drills. The more they learn to do in their heads the better off they are.

I need a spanish song, rhyme, or chant to teach to elementary spanish students, anay ideas!? PLEASE?

We Answered:

You can sing head, shoulders, knees and toes in Spanish.

I also got some Spanish music cds from my local library that had a bunch of kids songs on them. Some were even meant to teach kids Spanish through songs. I really like those.

Also look for Spanish Sesame Street. They have a lot of music and rhymes and stuff. It is easy for kids to follow to because the vocabulary is basic.

Good luck with your class
