Education For Teaching

Daniel Said:

Can you get a special education teaching job in this economy?

We Answered:

OH HECK YES!!! Sped is probably the "recession proof" of all the teaching positions and, to top it off, you can basically write your own ticket. I'd put my resume out there right now and start "chumming the water". I can't believe you won't get some bites. Just remember to "leave it at the school". Don't bring home paperwork unless you absolutely have to.

Eileen Said:

Will a state of AZ cross categorical special education teaching certificate transfer to the state of MI?

We Answered:

Good question. My advice is to contact the credentialing office in the state you are going to and ask that very question to them. They know what their requirements are and can tell you exactly what you need to do. I would look up Michigan's state department of education and cross reference for the credentialing office.

Good luck!!

What do i need for secondary education teaching?

We Answered:

For starters, use spell check.

You will need a degree in math and education. It takes four years sometimes five.

For now, stay in school and take as much math as you can. Take a variety of extra things, like sports.

Hazel Said:

Do you have any recommendations for a good Education/Teaching related magazine?

We Answered:

As a teacher, I have found that there are not a whole lot of quality magazines available. I have found numerous amounts of websites that have been helpful. Many elementary schools have their own web pages with highlights from their school year. if you take your time looking through these, you're bound to find some good, and not so good ideas.
