Can I get my MBA online through distance education? We Answered:
Yep, Baker offers online MBA's online, they also have a bunch of schools in Michigan so it's not like its an online only school. Your degree will also say Baker, not Baker Online (unless they have changed something) they are also definately accredited. The site is www.ol.baker.edu or www.baker.eduEdgar Said:
Trouble with distance / online education courses? We Answered:
I definitely have done online classes before! You have to be self-driven and organized in order to complete them, most definitely. Most colleges will send out a welcome and "how to get started" letter when you enroll to show you, obviously, how to get started (i.e. logon, access the course, etc.).
After that, the teacher sends out some sort of welcome message and the first week's assignment (where to find it, how to complete it). There are ALWAYS helplines and the teacher is also willing to help when you get confused, but your quick communication is essential when you're stuck.
Personally, I really like online courses. The reading requirement is substantially more than would be in face-to-face versions (at least, it has been for me). The assignments are completed on a weekly basis, so you need to keep track of what is due and when it's due.
Depending upon the teacher, they might post the assignments weekly, OR, they might post all of it at once for you to complete at your leisure until the ULTIMATE deadline for everything (usually the end of the semester). With this method, it's very easy to forget about the homework since there's no weekly deadline. In cases such as this, I suggest you follow the exact course of action and the "recommended" times of completion instead of waiting last minute. The professors who do this route are often not very involved in the course virtually and wait to grade everything until the last few weeks of class. To get help, your best option is to contact another student enrolled in the course (usually there is an online roster with everyone's contact email), or the distance helpline.
If you are able to maintain your ability to keep up with the homework and stay organized, it will be no-sweat. With this option, you're often the one who takes initiative for your learning, basically teaching yourself with a bit of guidance from the professor. Many teachers are really great about working with you if a problem occurs (your computer crashes, family emergency, etc.), but there will be some who aren't. However, if your college is primarily online, I wouldn't worry about getting a bad one! Just make sure you have a backup computer to access in case something goes wrong with your computer--and BUY A FLASH DRIVE to store backups of all of your homework! I learned THAT the hard way!
I suggest you buy a planner, get your eyes checked (you'll be doing a LOT of reading), designate a daily time for which you will study, and complete everything according to the online calendar. If you do that, it will be great!

are certificates valid which are earned through distance education and writing exams online? We Answered:
It depends on the school and what type of program it is. If you are going for a degree you need to make sure the school is accredited, ask them where they get their accreditation. An employer will usually only consider degrees from schools that get their accreditation from one of these organizations:Middle States Association of Colleges & Schools
New England Association of Schools & Colleges
North Central Association of Colleges & Schools
Northwest Commission on Colleges & Universities
Southern Association of Colleges & Schools
Western Association of Schools & Colleges
As long as their accreditation is legitimate, employers won't care or even know that you got your education online.
If you are pursuing a certificate instead of a degree, it all depends on the reputation of that particular school within your field. You'll have to ask someone who works in that specific field.

Have you ever studied a degree online via distance education? We Answered:
Right now, I'm going to a technical college with a online degree program. I'm getting my Associates Degree in Business Management. Comparing online classes to the traditional classroom setting is all up to the individual. If you're and outgoing teen/adult who likes being around people then going to class would be your preference. If you're more on the shy side and don't care to experience the true feeling of college then online would be your preference. For me I would prefer online classes. The classes are not and I repeat not easier, in fact they are much more harder than going to class. Online classes are harder because they is no one there to teach you the material. You pretty much and have to teach yourself, but don't worry the professors are there to answer any questions you may have. From what I've read, online degrees don't get much respect being that most people believe that they're not accredited. Don't worry about that, online degrees (depending on what college you go to) are in fact accredited. Word of advice, stay away from the University of Phoenix, they have do not have a good reputation. Online classes are very flexible if you have a job or a stay at home parent, but the workload can be heavy at times. I'm into my second semester of college taking all of my classes online and everything seems to be going great. My grades are great and I really do enjoy taking them online. You never have to worry about missing a class, being late, or making sure to make time for that class itself. So, if you're considering getting your degree online I say go for it. Just make sure you are a good self motivator, motivation is the key for online classes.Clinton Said:
