MSc/Mphil are additional qualifications you do after your degree, a bit like a PHD. It's a year long course done at a university.
I think the course would be good to do. Recognition from the BPS however can help if you want to join a counselling business/firm, but if you're just offering private service it's just another certificate to have on the wall. Having recognition from the BPS will also mean you generally get paid more.
You can definately be a coundellor without BPS recognition, but with the NHS there are certain types of psychology you can only practice with BPS recognition and an MSc/MPhil, such as health psychology.

Being online, Athabasca U's reputation in Canada in below that of mainstream "on-campus" schools. This will be true when you're trying to get jobs/promotions.

Two years to get a Bachelor's degree? This should tell you Athabasca U's credit recognition is too generous and you're unlikely to get a good broad-based education. You are likely as an Atahabasca U graduate to do poorly on standard tests for entry into graduate schools such as the GRE and GMAT.

You find a list of all universities over there and then you can accordingly narrow down your choices. Get in touch with those universities via e-mail. You will also need to pass the IELTS. For that exam contact British Council in your country. Their website is http://www.britishcouncil.org . Make sure you do not opt for distance education. Not a good idea.
